Building Stuff

I modified the Urban Terror source code to add in realistic bot pings (C++), which turned out very well.. I searched and read countless posts on the topic, but never really found a straight answer. There were plenty of people asking the same "How to add bot pings?" question - so I figure I'll answer the question in a future post with what to add and where.
The UrT server's been working great for a month or so, so it should be good to go. If there's an 'immediate need' (can't wait for the future post), just let me know and I'll send ya the info.
With the cold weather here we haven't been getting out on the trail as much, so I've been working in my spare time on a new CMS. It's PHP/MySQL driven, with sub-categories, comments, tags, article images and search engine friendly URLs. It's aimed towards development, and is very lightweight.
It's turning out far better than expected but won't be in production for a few weeks. If all goes well after a live trial, then I may release it for others as open source. There's nothing wrong with the sNews CMS I'm currently using, it's been great - but I have to modify it to get it the way I'd like, so why not just build my own...
So that's what I've been up to!

As a user of your server, I think this is kind of cool but also annoying -- it's hard to tell, off hand, how many bots are on the server. So you have to play for a bit to see if you're up against actual humans.
Sounds like the random bot pings are somewhat effective.
You were probably playing when I was stress testing with multiple bots - which I can understand would get annoying... The goal is to keep the server from going totally empty - eventually leading to only humans playing. I'm with you though, the quicker the better.
